When studying, particularly at post-graduate level, students are regularly asked to... ‘critically analyse’ or ‘critically discuss’, and there is often an expectation that students know what this means and, more importantly, know how to do it. This brief session aims to take away some of the mystery surrounding how to think critically and tries to show that it is something we do every day, and we just need to apply such ways of thinking to our academic work, as well as our day-to-day work.
This session gives viewers the opportunity to learn more about the Early Childhood ...team at The Open University. We discuss the inter-disciplinary nature of the team, how this contributes to the richness of the curriculum and how it informs the preparation of our teaching materials. We discuss how our shared belief of regarding children as citizens with rights, particularly in relation to children’s right to be heard, is central to our mission as teachers.
