Description
The game 'consequences' demonstrate (amusing) outcomes when quite different sets of assumptions and stereotypes are juxtaposed. The framework of the game encloses a lot of other frameworks which ha...ve built-in assumptions and knowledge of people and situations. From this starting point in the programme, the problems of communication arising from physical handicap are explored, using a 'systems' approach. All elements of a communication 'system' are demonstrated as important, such as non-verbal signals, speed of communication, stereotyped assumptions, and actual physical relationships (e.g. distance if one person is in a wheelchair.) The comments of Rudi Dallos of the Open University are intercut with contributions from a range of people with disabilities. The programme is presented by Nabil Shaban.
