Description
This session will explain that we have recently set up a new research centre (Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership) with the aim of improving leadership in the voluntary sector. We are conducting... new research and making free and flexible leadership courses available: these can be taken by anyone with an interest in the voluntary sector. The centre particularly focuses on smaller organisations – which, many would argue, are particularly in need of information and training around leadership. It is a sector that is facing a range of challenges, including ongoing ‘austerity’ and cuts to local and national government support, sometimes unhelpful public policy, increasing social needs in many communities, and the uncertainties surrounding the post-Brexit environment. I welcome questions and suggestions about all of the above, including whether students think these are important issues.
