When studying, particularly at post-graduate level, students are regularly asked to ‘critically analyse’ or ‘critically discuss’, and there is often an expectation that students know what t...his means and, more importantly, know how to do it. This brief session aims to take away some of the mystery surrounding how to think critically and tries to show that it is something we do every day, and we just need to apply such ways of thinking to our academic work, as well as our day-to-day work. This session is also used in Study skills bootcamp - essay writing masterclass [2018]; (re) Orientation Induction [2019]; and The OU School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport – (re)Freshers event [2019].
