In clip 16 Dr. Sidnie Manton talks about how a new breed (variety) of cat with long fur but the Siamese colour pattern has been developed by a planned breeding programme over 22 years. This is an example of the application of knowledge of genetics in the highly efficient selection of desirable attributes in domestic animals.
