Description
American William Everett trained as a lawyer before becoming a tutor at Harvard University. He later became master of Adams Academy. He was elected to represent Massachusetts' seventh district in the House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1893. Everett was the son of U.S. Secretary of State Edward Everett who spoke at Gettysburg before President Lincoln's famous address there in 1863.
