Description
John Hubbard, 1st Baron Addington was a politician and financier. He became Governor of the Bank of England from 1853 to 1855. In 1859 he was elected the Tory MP for Buckingham and re-elected again in 1865. He later became MP for the City of London before being created 1st Baron Addington in 1887. He funded the building of St Alban's Church in Holborn where he was also churchwarden.
