Description
John Brown was a Scottish physician and essayist. He is best known for his three-volume collection of essays titled 'Horae Subsecivae' ('Leisure Hours') published in 1858. In 1847 Brown became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Brown was popular among his contemporaries and was a close friend of authors William Makepeace Thackeray and Mark Twain.
