Description
Bram Gieben of The Open University talks to Professor John Erickson of the Department of Defence Studies at Edinburgh University about the future of NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Professor Erickson is ...a specialist in Soviet affairs and nuclear strategy and he gives his views on how recent developments in both East and West are likely to affect the role and functioning of the two military alliances. The programme also examines the changing relationship between member states, the dominant super-powers and their military alliances, particularly bearing in mind the greater autonomy of Warsaw Pact member states. Finally the discussion turns to an analysis of the future of NATO and the Warsaw Pact. The interview was recorded in June, 1989.
