Footage description: Reed introduces the programme from Limburg. He outlines the organised run down of mining in the area. Shots of mines, coal tips etc. He continues by looking at the redevelopment of the area. Shots of DAF factory. Reed interviews Dekker on the Community's involvement in regional planning. Dekker goes through the history of the run down of the mines and how all sides agreed to the programme. Dekker briefly outlines the contributions made by the Dutch government and the community to the run down. Reed interviews Thomson, the EEC commissioner on regional policy. He explains what his office does. Thomson continues by explaining how community regional policies may effect Britain: and how the funds are raised for any regional expenditure. Thomson concludes by outlining future goals of the EEC's regional policies.
