Abstract: Nelson’s stochastic mechanics provides a link between a quantum mechanical state given by a wave function, and a diffusion process determined by a stochastic version of Newton’s second law of motion (Force = mass x “stochastic acceleration”) . In this talk we will look at some Nelson diffusion processes that are associated to particular coherent quantum states and at how we can determine semi-classical Nelson diffusions by considering the correspondence limit. In particular we investigate a semi-classical diffusion associated with a particular coherent state for the Coulomb potential known as the “atomic elliptic state”.”
