The role of technology in belonging is complex, and it can be both an enabler and an obstacle for people’s identity and participation. Dr Camilla Elphick is researching on the application of psy...chology to making positive changes – she is part of a citizens forensics project, aiming to improve communication between people and institutions such as the police, and is a researcher for Spot, an AI reporting tool enabling people to report workplace harassment and discrimination. Head of Religious Studies Dr Paul-Francois Tremlett’s research has increasingly focussed on religion, politics and processes of rapid social and spatial change, most recently on the Occupy camps and protests in London and Hong Kong as part of an international and inter-disciplinary research collaboration. Lecturer in Music Dr Sean Williams is a practice-led researcher in the field of electronic music and performance, designing and building instruments, as well as being a composer and performer, contributing to the module ‘Music, Sound and Technology’ on how technology can be used to create and to understand music.
