Nose shape gene inherited from Neanderthals

People evolvingA recent paper by Kaustubh Adhikari reported several new genes linked to face shape variation in diverse ethnicities. In particular, a gene variation possibly inherited from the Neanderthals among Native Americans and East Asians seemed to contribute to taller noses. The paper titled Automatic landmarking identifies new loci associated with face morphology and implicates Neanderthal introgression in human nasal shape was published in the journal Communications Biology 6 (2023).
