Launch of the Data Science Professional certificate

Rachel HilliamThe Alliance for Data Science Professionals has launched the Data Science Professional certificate which together with the Advanced Data Science Professional certificate offer two accreditation levels for those working in data science.

The Alliance for Data Science Professionals (AfDSP) was formed in 2020 through a collaboration of six organisations: the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS), the Operational Research Society, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), the Alan Turing Institute (ATi), and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). The first Chair of the Alliance is Professor Rachel Hilliam, who is also the Royal Statistical Society Vice-president for Professional Affairs.  The first tranche of data scientists to complete the advanced certificate received their awards at a ceremony at the Royal Society in July 2022 (see also this article by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications).

Rachel discusses the origins, mission and future plans for the Alliance for Data Science Professionals in ComputerWeekly.
