This cluster provides an intellectual and collaborative space for academics, visiting researchers and PhD students interested in gender-focused and feminist analysis of the law.

The cluster brings together an array of expertise as well as cutting-edge and impactful research on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to): gender, sexuality & criminal law; first women lawyers; violence against women and girls (VAWG); gender, technology and law; online violence against women women’s rights (including in post-conflict situations); coercive control & criminal law.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent). If you are not a UK citizen, you may need to prove your knowledge of English

Potential research projects

We are open to considering PhD proposals which fall into the thematic scope of the research cluster (i.e. feminism, gender, law). In particular, we welcome proposals in the following areas:

  • Gender and technology
  • Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) (online and offline)
  • Gender and criminal law
  • Gender and the justice professions.
