The Philosophy discipline welcomes applications for graduate work in the philosophy of sports and games.
The Open University is one of the few places internationally that can offer supervisory expertise in the philosophy of sport and games within a philosophy department. Several members of staff have interests in this area; Sophie Grace Chappell has published on glory-seeking and sport, and Alex Barber and Sean Cordell have interests in sporting role morality and other areas. Jon Pike publishes on the philosophy of sport generally, doping and anti-doping ethics, naturalistic accounts of sport, fairness and equality in sport, and on Paralympic ethics. He regularly writes reviews for The Journal of the Philosophy of Sport, and for Sports, Ethics and Philosophy and is consulted by UK Anti-Doping, WADA and World Rugby.
