Thermodynamics of Growing Living and Active Matter

The aim of this research is to extend the theory of thermodynamics beyond the classical assumptions of equilibrium, slow processes, and a large number of particles. It will focus on non-equilibrium processes, such as cell division and cell death, which can have practical applications in healthcare technologies such as healing tissue injuries and drug deliveries. The research will combine mathematical modelling with extensive computer simulations and collaborations with experimentalists.
