Mode of study
All of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images; interactive activities; audio/video clips (with transcripts, subtitles and descriptions where possible). Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms. We provide printed materials are provided for some module content.
This module provides a range of online learning events and online tutorials. Although not compulsory, tutorials will help you consolidate your learning.
This module also includes an embedded online school1, where you will have a choice of joining an intensive or extended version of the programme.
Working with others
You’ll be required to work with other students, but this is not assessed. This includes looking at, and commenting on, others’ work; reflecting on others’ comments on your work; and /or working together with fellow learners on a task; and taking part in forum discussions.
Diagrams and other visual content
The study materials contain some diagrams. Interpreting these is an important part of the study of this module. We provide descriptions for all essential figures.
You could be required to search for, and make use of, third party material online. We can provide alternatives for required research material to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module.
This module has activities where you search online for newspapers, radio stations and TV programmes in French.
This module has Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) and an end-of-module assessment. You must also take part in the online school programme.
You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
