Accessibility Statement for PGCE 1 and 2 (EE306)

Mode of study

Most of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images, audio/video clips (all with transcripts/subtitles), diagrams and interactive media. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms. You can make a request to the module team for printed materials; these will be provided at their discretion. You'll be required to purchase set texts (some of these are also available as ebooks from the module website). Accessible versions are available if required.

Tuition strategy

This module provides a range of learning events, and online tutorials. Online tutorials are compulsory. You should speak to your Curriculum Tutor in the first instance if you have any difficulties attending.

Working with others

You’ll be required to work with other students. This includes looking at, and commenting on, others’ work; reflecting on others’ comments on your work; and/or working together with fellow learners on a task. Working with others will take place via the student forum, during online tutorials, or with other students in the school cluster, where appropriate.

Mathematical and scientific expressions and notations

Secondary PGCE students with a science or maths specialism will be required to use mathematical and scientific symbols and expressions throughout the module. Primary PGCE students may use maths notations as they develop their subject knowledge.

Diagrams and other visual content

The study materials contain a considerable number of diagrams, graphs and photographs. Reading, interpreting, and producing examples of these is an important part of the study of this module. We provide descriptions for all essential figures.

Finding information

You will be required to search for, and make use of, third-party material online, and we assess this. We can provide alternatives for required/assessed research material to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module.

Assessment

This module has an end-of-module assessment submitted online. You will also need to access the OU PGCE ePortfolio to collect evidence from your practice learning, which forms part of the assessment. An accessible version of the forms that you will need to complete can be provided upon request.

Feedback

You’ll receive feedback from your Curriculum Tutor throughout the module and from your in-school mentors. EMA feedback will be provided by your Curriculum Tutor.

Schedule

We structure all University modules to a set timetable and you’ll need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. We’ll support you in developing these skills.

Conditions of professional practice

Throughout study on this module, you'll need to adhere to the conditions of professional practice set by:
