Accessibility Statement for Understanding nursing: knowledge and theory (KYE210)

Mode of study

All of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images, (all with transcripts/subtitles), diagrams, interactive media, animations, multiple choice self-assessed quizzes. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms.

Tuition strategy

This module provides a range of learning events. Attendance and participation in the online tutorials is mandatory. Attendance at tutorials will help you consolidate your learning. Failure to attend or participate in tuition activities may compromise your readiness to apply for entry to the NMC’s Professional Register at the end of this programme and affect your ability to work as a Registered Nurse.

Working with others

You will be required to work with other students in groups of approximately eight students. This includes contributing to the learning of others, looking at, and commenting on, others’ work, reflecting on others’ comments on your work, and/or working together with fellow learners on a project/task.

Diagrams and other visual content

The study materials contain some diagrams/graphs/photographs. Reading/interpreting these is an important part of the study of this module. Figure descriptions are provided for most figures.

Finding information

For each EBL tutorial you will be provided with learning materials to take you through your exploration of the module themes. The learning materials include a set of readings chosen specially for KYE210, audio-visual material, interactive activities and other material on external websites.

In addition to the module materials you are required to search for, and make use of, third-party material online. In order to maximise learning using enquiry-based approaches, you are expected to seek information from other sources to inform scenarios or vignettes that you are working on.

Assessment

This module has 2 Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) which must be submitted online via the OU electronic TMA system, 1 Interactive Computer- Marked Assignment (iCMA) completed online, and an End-of-Module Assessment submitted online.

Feedback

You will receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.

Schedule

All University modules are structured according to a set timetable and you will need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. Resources exist on StudentHome to support study skills development.
