Accessibility Statement for French studies 3: language and culture of the French-speaking world (L332)

Mode of study

All of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images; audio/video clips of varying length (all with transcripts/subtitles); diagrams; interactive media; animations; and multiple-choice self-assessed quizzes. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms.

For students with additional requirements we can provide printed materials for all module content with the exception of some online material, which is not essential to meet the learning outcomes.

Tuition strategy

This module provides a range of learning events, online tutorials and face-to-face tutorials. Each face-to-face learning event1 offers an online (or other) alternative. Although not compulsory, tutorials will help you consolidate your learning and prepare you for the interactive speaking assessment.

Working with others

You will have opportunities to engage in forum discussions with other learners to deepen your understanding of the module topics, widen your perspective and practise your interactive language skills. In Unit 4, you will participate in a cross-languages discussion task around migration and identity and are required to engage by posting a contribution and/or reading and reflecting on others’ posts.

Diagrams and other visual content

The study materials contain some diagrams/graphs/photographs. Reading/interpreting these is an important part of the study of this module. We provide descriptions for all essential figures.

Finding information

You will be required to search for, and make use of, third-party material online and we assess this. We can provide alternatives for required/assessed research material to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module. For your TMAs and for your final project you will need to search for resources outside the module materials to address the task fully.

Assessment

This module has Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs), which you must submit online via the OU electronic TMA system; and an end-of-module assessment submitted online.

One of the TMAs will be an interactive speaking assessment which will be held online.

Feedback

You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
