Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
On completion of this qualification, you’ll have knowledge and understanding of:
- essential and advanced concepts, principles, theories, ethical frameworks, and current issues in biomedical sciences
- the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, systems, and processes in the human body, their interaction with each other, and with external factors
- the human body in both health and disease, focusing on diagnostic techniques, including biochemistry, microbiology, haematology and histopathology, and their role in treating defined health conditions.
Cognitive skills
On completion of this qualification, you’ll be able to:
- devise and implement research strategies, develop and present reasoned arguments, and justify results
- to critically evaluate information from different sources and recognise the potential uncertainty, ambiguity and limits of information and knowledge in biomedical sciences.
Practical and/or professional skills
On completion of this qualification, you’ll be able to:
- design, conduct and report on scientific investigations or practical tasks using practical and professional skills such as personal responsibility, initiative, and applying appropriate ethical frameworks
- manage and review your personal and professional development and reflect on and discuss your personal attributes, knowledge, and skills.

- collect, analyse, interpret, and communicate information and data from various sources, using methods, style and language appropriate to your purpose and audience
