Diploma of Higher Education in Engineering - Learning outcomes

Educational aims

Learning outcomes align with the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) building towards professional recognition. Underpinning science and mathematics are utilised in the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of engineering topics and skills development. Intellectual abilities, practical skills and general transferable skills in engineering feature in the qualification together with personal and professional development planning activities.

Learning outcomes closely align with the EC’s UK-SPEC generic output standards in:

  • science and mathematics
  • engineering analysis
  • design
  • economic, legal, social, ethical and environmental context
  • engineering practice
  • additional general skills.
