If you’re studying at least 30 credits and your personal income is £25,000 or less (including replacement living-cost benefits), you may be eligible for a PTFG and top-up funding from the OU, which will cover the cost of your course fees.
To fully register onto your module(s) and complete your PTFG application, you need to complete two processes:
The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) Portal is now open for applications for the 25/26 academic year. If you still need to apply for funding for the 24/25 academic year (modules beginning before 31 July this year), please contact SAAS to apply as you will not be able to apply online.
On the SAAS PTFG application, you'll be asked for the end date of your course. The table below shows what date to state depending on when your module starts and how many months it lasts. Enter the date for the module that finishes last, for example, if you have an October and February module, use 30 September 2026.
If you need assistance with the SAAS portal, you should use the help section in the portal or contact SAAS.
If you need help determining what information to provide for your OU study details, contact us on 0131 226 3851 or email [email protected].
While waiting for your course to start, why not look at the induction materials for your subject area on StudentHome? You’ll find various resources, videos, and activities to get you off to a flying start.
