This 120-credit Certificate of Higher Education in Film and Media Production comprises four 30-credit modules.
Module 1: Introducing visual language
Begin your journey by exploring the fundamentals of visual communication in film. Throughout this module, you'll discover how composition, framing, and colour work together to create meaning, developing your eye for visual storytelling as you create your own impactful work.
Module 2: Collaborative production
Taking your skills further, this module offers a choice of pathways in film, audio storytelling, or animation. Working alongside peers, you'll share projects, exchange feedback, and develop essential collaboration skills that mirror industry practice.
Module 3: Individual exploration
Dive into the world of storytelling as you learn to craft compelling narratives while considering the ethical implications of creative choices. Through hands-on projects, you'll develop your unique voice, applying storytelling skills in ways that align with your creative vision.
Module 4: Major project
Draw together everything you've learned in this final module, creating a substantial creative project. Starting from a stimulus, you'll develop work that reflects your intended industry role and create a showreel showcasing your best work from the course.
Each module is designed to be finished in approximately 12 weeks.
To study this course, you'll need a camera (a smartphone works well) and a computer suitable for editing. While professional equipment isn't necessary, these basic tools will enable you to participate fully in all practical aspects of the course.
