Some of this module's study materials are online. Online materials include a glossary, indexes, assessment materials, audio clips of 1-20 minutes long (all with transcripts), online tools to support language learning, and interactive quizzes. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms. Printed materials provided include the core module materials and the majority of primary and secondary sources needed for the module.
This module provides online tutorials. Although not compulsory, attendance at tutorials will help you consolidate your learning.
The study materials contain photographs and a considerable number of tables of Latin grammar. Grammar tables are an essential part of the study of this module. Figure descriptions are provided for all figures.
You may be directed to search for, and make use of, third party material online as part of your study, but this is not a formal requirement for any of the assessments. Alternatives for required/assessed research material can be provided to enable you to meet the Learning Outcomes of the module.
In this module you will be working with text in the Latin language. Some Latin texts include macra (printed marks) over long vowels to assist with pronunciation. Latin texts are delivered online, in printed form, and via third party online and printed material.
This module has tutor-marked assignments (TMAs) and an exam that you will access online, complete at home within a set time window, then upload and submit.
You will receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
All University modules are structured according to a set timetable and you will need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. You will be supported in developing these skills.
This module includes a considerable amount of text in the Latin language that may not be fully covered by standard accessibility tools such as screen readers.
