Accessibility statementMost of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images, audio/video clips (all with transcripts/subtitles), diagrams, and various learning activities. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums, and online tutorial rooms. You will also have access to the library website for wider reading and study support, along with an e-reader for easy access to selected articles and book chapters.
This module includes a series of six practice skills workshops (some online and some face-to-face). These workshops are compulsory and form part of the practice skills requirements for the social work requirements in each nation. The workshops will help you consolidate your learning and gain support from your tutor and other students.
The study materials contain some diagrams and images. Reading/ interpreting these is an important part of the study of this module. We provide captions/descriptions for all essential figures.
You will be supported in the module to find and use information through the library website. You will be required to search for, and make use of, third party material (via non-OU websites).
This module has three Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) which must be submitted online via the OU electronic TMA system. An End-of-Module Assessment (EMA) must be submitted online. You will also be required to submit written records of critical practice and direct observations as part of your practice portfolio.
You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
We structure all University modules to a set timetable, and you’ll need time management skills to keep your studies on track. We’ll support you in developing these skills. You will already have been practising and developing your skills in this area in your first placement module and will be supported to continue developing these skills during K355.
