All of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images; audio/video clips (all with transcripts/subtitles); diagrams; interactive media; animations; and multiple-choice self-assessed quizzes. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms. If you’re using printed materials as part of reasonable adjustments to support your studies, note that printed versions of online materials are unavailable for this module.
This module provides a range of learning events and online tutorials. Although not compulsory, attendance at tutorials will help you consolidate your learning.
You’ll be encouraged to work with other students. This includes looking at and commenting on others’ work; reflecting on others’ comments on your work; and/or working together with fellow learners on a task. You will not be assessed on these activities.
You will be encouraged to experiment with different forms of creative practice, including developing ideas and storytelling skills, image-making and audio production. This may mean taking photographs on your mobile phone or other devices, using sound recording equipment and conducting basic interviews. You will be fully supported in all these tasks.
You’ll work with illustrations, photographs, video and audio clips, and interactive learning materials throughout the module. Engaging with and interpreting this content are important parts of your study and are assessed. Descriptions are provided for figures wherever possible.
You will be required to search for and make use of third-party material online. This may be finding film or audio clips, visual examples, information on creative outputs or individuals and more. We can provide alternatives for required/assessed research material to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the module.
This module has four tutor-marked assignments (TMAs); and an end-of-module assessment.
You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). This will help you reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
We structure all University modules to a set timetable, and you’ll need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. We’ll support you in developing these skills.
You will use specialist creative software such as Canva or Adobe.
