Accessibility statementThis module’s study materials are online, comprising pages of text with images, diagrams, video clips of 3–10 minutes (all with transcripts and subtitles), self-assessment activities, and an online computing environment for the practical activities. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms.
This module has online tutorials and individual sessions with your tutor. Although not compulsory, tutorials will help you consolidate your learning and allow you to embed yourself in the TM113 community. The individual sessions with your tutor are there for you to get customised support.
Online practical work forms a required assessment component using our online environment. We’ll provide full guidance on using this online integrated development environment for your practical work and assessment.
The study materials contain some diagrams and graphs. Reading and producing examples of these is an important part of the study of this module, and we assess this. We provide descriptions for all figures and, where required, alternative formats for assessment.
You could be required to search for and use third-party material online. We can provide alternatives for the required/assessed research material to enable you to meet the module’s learning outcomes.
This module has three tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). Your first TMA will include a brief chat with your tutor about your module progress as part of the assessment. Your second TMA will include a live code-review of the code submitted for the TMA with your tutor. All assessments are designed to be fully accessible, and we have alternative assessments available to cover all required adjustments.
You’ll receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). Feedback will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
We structure all University modules to a set timetable, and you’ll need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. We’ll support you in developing these skills.
This module uses industry-standard software for the programming and database activities. We’ll provide an online environment containing all required pre-configured software to allow you to focus on your learning. The software environment is designed to be fully accessible, but we’ll provide alternatives where there are specific additional requirements.
