All of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images, four audio and 20 video clips (all with transcripts/subtitles), diagrams, interactive media, animations, multiple-choice self-assessed quizzes. Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums, online tutorial rooms and OpenStudio.
This module provides a range of online learning events delivered as online tutorials. Although not compulsory, attendance at tutorials will help you consolidate your learning.
You will be required to work with other students and this is assessed. This includes looking at, and commenting on, others’ work, reflecting on others’ comments on your work, and/or working together with fellow learners on a project/task. You will need to create a poster for others to comment upon and will be marked on your comments on visual elements of others work.
This module requires the use of an online tool, Open Studio, to post presentations, pictures, to comment on others’ work and to respond to others’ comments on your work. The OU computing support materials have been prepared to enable students with visual impairments or limited manual dexterity to successfully study the module but it should be noted that the poster is a visual element of the assessment.
The study materials contain some diagrams. Figure descriptions are provided for figures.
You may be required to search for, and make use of, third party material online and this is assessed. This module is an independent study module and therefore it assesses your independent research capabilities.
This module has tutor-marked assignments and an end-of-module assessment.
You will receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.
All University modules are structured according to a set timetable and you will need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. You will be supported in developing these skills.
The module materials and assessment ask you to use the specialist software, OpenStudio.
