Tackling global educational challenges and shaping possible futures through multidisciplinary research networks and pedagogical innovation. Our mission is to tackle global challenges in contemporary education and shape possible futures for widening participation. IET’s Learning Futures research and innovation programme aims to investigate, establish, and encourage multidisciplinary networks to embrace global challenges within education with highly scalable Mass Open Online Courses (MOOCs), MOOC platforms and portable devices supporting mobile learning.

Engaging with communities, partners and stakeholders across academia, industry, government, and civil society in the UK and internationally, our research in mobile learning, citizen engagement, online language learning and MOOCs addresses the needs of dispersed and disadvantaged learners.

Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and an MA or research methods training at MA level (or equivalent). If you are not a UK citizen, you may need to prove your knowledge of English.

Some of our research students are funded via the Faculty or The Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership and the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership; others are self-funded.
