The Gender and Otherness in the Humanities (GOTH) research group engages with various fields, including English Literature, Creative Writing, Music, History, Theatre Studies, Art History and Classical Studies, to explore topics related to themes of gender and otherness.
GOTH hosts critical reading sessions led by members to prompt dialogue around significant texts. We run a major annual interdisciplinary research symposium bringing together international speakers, and regular cross-faculty NetWorkshops with OU colleagues to share findings and best practice. Our monthly GOTH Postgraduate Student Forum is a casual, welcoming online session for PG students across the Arts and Humanities to discuss their work. At least once a year, it meets on campus. We also organise online Drama Festivals, live performance events and research away days to relevant exhibitions, historical sites and other accessible locations, where we learn from each other’s research on site.
We welcome PhD applications corresponding to staff research interests.
Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent). If you are not a UK citizen, you may need to prove your knowledge of English.
