Are you interested in how accounting shapes business decisions and drives success? In this specialist accounting route of our business management degree, you’ll learn how organisations operate while developing expertise in financial and management accounting. You’ll explore the vital role accountants play, the types of information they manage, and how it informs both daily operations and strategic decisions. This business management degree has three stages, each comprising 120 credits.
Our modular study approach gives you the flexibility to complete your qualification at a pace that fits around your life. Whether you prefer a fast track or want to work at a slower rate, you can tailor your study plan to suit your needs.
You’ll start your degree with an introduction to the essential disciplines of business and management and the functions of human resource management, marketing, and finance. You'll also be introduced to financial and management accounting principles to develop your financial skills. You’ll complete this stage by studying economics and personal finance, or how the use of data analytics can help businesses make informed decisions.

Stage 2 begins by focusing on the essential functions of an organisation: human resources, marketing, operations management, and accounting and finance. You’ll then explore the differences in financial accounting, build an understanding of audit practice, and see how business decisions are based on financial analysis.

Stage 3 begins with an exploration of strategic management, where you'll analyse how organisations make decisions, compete successfully, and expand internationally in dynamic environments. You'll then explore management accounting and international financial concepts for organisational decision-making. To complete your degree, you can either focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, marketing communications or digital marketing or learn about leadership in turbulent times.

Your honours classification (first, upper second, lower second or third class honours) will depend on the grades you gain at Stages 2 and 3.

There are no formal entry requirements to study this qualification.
With the exception of the Accounting route, there is the option to study a mathematics module at Stage 1. Whether that module is right for you will depend on your experience and confidence with mathematics. If you’ve done any higher education study within the last 16 years, you might be able to transfer the credits into this course, saving you time and money.
