Business and finance fundamentals in practice
This module is only available to learners who have completed and purchased Certificates of Achievement for all eight Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in the ‘Business and Finance Fundamentals’ program available from FutureLearn.
FutureLearn is a MOOC platform, partly owned by The Open University, offering a diverse selection of courses from leading universities and cultural institutions from around the world. Using lively case studies and interactive exercises, the module consolidates key lessons from each of the ‘Business and Finance Fundamentals’ MOOCs. You will demonstrate your skills and understanding by carrying out a series of workplace relevant tasks which address aspects of the learning from each MOOC. This module allows you to put the skills and knowledge you have acquired in your MOOC study into practice whilst also equipping you with study skills required for learning at undergraduate level. Assessment consists of a series of practical tasks which build into the assignment you submit at the end of the module.
On successful completion of this module you will gain 30 credits that can be counted towards a range of Open University qualifications.
What you will study
You will have the opportunity to revise key content from the relevant MOOC in preparation for each task. You will be guided by various activities including interactive computer-marked assessment, questions, and reviewing program content that remains available to you as a registered learner on the FutureLearn platform who has purchased the required Certificates of Achievement. In parallel to this process of consolidation and application, you will receive a grounding in study skills relevant to undergraduate learning. Over the 21 weeks of the module, your work will build towards the final assignment, ensuring that you have the opportunity to demonstrate the full range of your learning from the program.
This module requires 9-10 hours of study each week in addition to the 96 hours of study for the MOOCs.
To study this module, you must have completed all relevant MOOCs and obtained all eight Certificates of Achievement from the FutureLearn program ‘Business and Finance Fundamentals’ prior to the final date for registering on each presentation. You will be asked to provide proof of this via email once you have registered on the module. Further details of the program and its content are available from the FutureLearn website.
